Ok, I heard some screaming out of Annika's room last Friday evening. I assumed it was a bug and didnt think much of it. The screaming didnt stop or the crying. Bad Mom! No, normally it is a bug. This time it was not. There is Annika, laying on her floor asking for ice, clutching her wrist. She slipped on a blow up hammer from some kid's place and landed hard. I assumed a jammed wrist. I took a closer look and her arm didnt look quite right. So, I called Rick and summoned him home. He looked and looked - nope, that doesnt look right. Off to the ER. Apparently some brilliant nurse asked if her arm was deformed - had she looked at the chart? That would say I would hope possibly a broken arm. After 5 hours of text messaging between Rick and I, Annika was home with an arm in a splint, a Snoopy sling (Linda loves it) and a referral to an orthopedist. She fractured her radius bone right below the wrist (that is the big bone in the arm).
Orthopedist got it pretty close and Annika picked out a pretty blue cast color. Very high tech - has gortex in order for her to take it into the shower with no issues. She goes back to the doctor on Monday to make sure the bone hasn't shifted. Let's hope the answer to that is no...

She looks pretty happy for a kid in a cast... Give her a hug from me.
I Love You All,
Aunt Kathie
Annika,
I am soooooo sorry you broke your arm. I know how painful it must have been and wish you a speedy recovery. Hopefully no more accidents.
Love you lots, Gramie
Super cool cast!
Cindy, remember that time when we were kids and we kept sliding down the hill in the front yard, trying to break our leg so we could get crutches? Seems like Rachel or someone was around for that as well.
In case anyone is thinking of trying it, it didn't work. I wouldn't bother.
