Bendaroos Suck

The kids have been asking for Bendaroos since before last Christmas. We were inundated with commercials and they just needed them. I was no way going to spend $30 plus shipping and handling (another $10) to get these. I know, I am a terrible mother. All year, kids see a commercial - "Mom, we really want those, really, really, really". I kept my eyes open for them at the store - No dice. Finally, Toys R Us has them. I buy a small package, only because I have a coupon and need to buy one more thing to be able to use it. I was so much the hero on Saturday night when I presented the package of these so hotly desired playthings. They open them up and start to bend them around and follow directions. Trevor immediately asks for help (not a good sign). Annika starts to get frustrated because they do not stick as the commerical showed. "I thought commercials were not allowed to lie anymore." Big fit of laughter on my part. "That is why we dont watch infomercials." So they lasted about 30 minutes before Trevor started wrapping his action figures up in them, only to get mad because thy just fell off.
Into a baggie they go. Next day, Annika and Trevor make one more feeble attempt at making something cool with them. Today, I have a bag of mashed up waxy string that of course, is not sticking together.... They have officially been removed from the xmas list.

Soccer Soccer Soccer

We are already in our 3rd week of soccer. Unfortunately we are playing soccer above average temps for this time of the year, so for the most part, they have not been the most enjoyable for the players or the people melting into the sidelines. Annika is playing an all girls team this season and is really enjoying it. They are playing with actual positions and doing a lot more in the skills department. Lots of fun to see her so excited about something athletic. Trevor is playing with a bunch of other kindergardeners so of course there is lots of silliness going on during practice. Fortunately, he is a bit more serious during the actual games.

Birthday Time

Hooray for birthdays!!! Excuse to make awesomely cool cakes. We had a very relaxing birthday for Rick's big day. Lots of laying on the sofa. Trevor got Daddy the IronMan movie so we watched that. Annika gave him a new Leatherman multi-tool and was amazed on how many tools fit all folded up on one. We had a nice dinner followed by Guitar Cake! Thanks to Annika for helping. All in all, I hope my Rick had a great birthday, with very many more to follow. We love you sweetie.

Bad Blogger...Bad!

Yes, I am terrible with the blog lately - will try to improve. Sooooo what has been going on you ask. Nothing terribly exciting. Kids are in school. They are already asking how many more days are left until some sort of vacation, or in Trevor's case, when summer vacation starts. Annika is just so very happy to be with her friends again.

Trevor did come up with a new sort of way to describe hiccups - He had the hiccups. I gave him a drink and told him to try a few little sips. After a few minute I asked if he was all better...."Well, I am not hicking up anymore". Classic.
